How This Works
This calculator uses the official FDA dosing guidelines for potassium iodide during radiation emergencies. The dose depends on age, weight (for adolescents), and special conditions like pregnancy or nursing.
Adults (18+) and pregnant/nursing women need 130mg daily. Children 3-12 and lighter adolescents need 65mg. Younger children need even smaller doses. The calculator converts these doses into tablet equivalents for common product strengths.
